Welcome to English 10 - Speech!

Semester schedule:

  • Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – Basics of public speaking (average 1 chapter per calendar week)
  • Chapter 8 – The interview – (appx. 2/20 - interviews appx. 2/28)
  • Chapter 9 – Getting ready (appx. 2/28-3/11)
  • Chapters 11, 12 & 13 – Wrap up prep. for speeches (appx. 3/11-3/18)
  • Chapter 14 – The informative speech – (appx. 3/18 – speech presentations appx. 3/29-4/1)
  • Chapter 15 – The process speech – (appx. 4/1 - speech presentations appx. 4/11-4/14)
  • Chapter 16 – The persuasive speech – (appx. 4/14 - speech presentations appx. 4/27-5/11)
  • Chapter 18 – Debate – (appx. 5/1 - debate appx. 5/17)

Tests follow each chapter unit, one for 11-13. Each unit’s project will be due on test day, the next unit’s being added to the Lang Arts network folder the same day. In addition to meeting presentation deadlines, students also will meet speech topic and other deadlines.
