Syllabus Yearbook/Journalism requires you use advanced writing skills. Good grammar and spelling are considered requirements. This is not an easy class. Journalism 101: All students (returning as well!) will participate in this unit. These are the essentials of reporting and writing for a publication, so we accomplish these goals before any actual writing. All students work on both the Eagle Times newspaper and the school yearbook. Eagle Times: You will work as a group to determine the month’s articles, etc. You will be expected to do your share of the workload. You may be given specific assignments at any time. Yearbook: You will be assigned specific pages for which you will individually be held accountable. Therefore, it would not be fair to the other students if some dropped and left unfinished work behind. If you intend to be in this class, you will not be permitted to drop after the drop period at the beginning of the school year. Semester 1:
Semester 2:
Grading Criteria 40% - Eagle Times (journalism 101 units, Ws & H sheets, storyboards, reporting, writing, meeting deadlines) 40% - Yearbook (finishing assigned tasks by deadlines) 20% - Participation (arriving prepared, using time effectively, etc.) Extra credit assignments are not automatically offered. |
