Why workshop?

Peer learning is the main idea behind workshopping. It is a positive environment in which we compare, contrast and support our efforts in the writing process.

Like any other type of art, creative writing is a subjective thing, up to interpretation. Also like other forms of art, it's this fluid nature that makes it elusive, difficult to quantify or grade.

With that said, workshopping is an effective form of assessment in that it requires the writer to understand, use and model critical reading and vice versa. It rehearses the song of writing, drawing out our creativity, emotion, expression. We find inspiration and a desire to make writing a lifelong joy, not chore.
