Q: What is the definition of creativity?

  • Can you name a favorite story that you think fits your definition?
  • What makes these stories interesting, funny or unusual?
  • Some of these stories may have been based on the writers' own experiences, while others were simply wonderfully creative products of the imagination.

Assignment:

  1. Choose an interesting, funny or unusual photo from the S:\students\MrJanes\11Comp-AmLit\shared\random funny photos folder. Yes, students may use the same photo. In fact, I'd be curious to see the different results of shared photos!
  2. Insert the photo in a new Word document - the location on the document is up to you.
  3. Write a story in the Word document about what happened before, during and after (plot) the photo was taken.
    • Show clear development of rising action, climax and falling action.
    • Your story must be 200 words in length, minimum.
    • Stories can be completely imaginary or you can try to re-create the factual aspects so that their stories have a straight news approach.
    • As we discussed, try folding Literary Elements into your story as you see fit. Adding these ingredients will only help with the cooking and the end result will be even more tasty! For now, it's voluntary. Soon, it will be required.

Save your story as phunny photo prose in your folder/portfolio.
