Artifacts

Your ePortfolio showcases you as a student. Yours will link to work, artifacts, you have completed that communicate what a great writer, speaker, all around student you are. Your other teachers, past and present, have been asked to suggest papers, reports and projects you have completed for them. Do you know of anything additional you'd like to add to your ePort as an artifact such as an essay for a scholarship or college admission? You will be adding work you have completed in your English class this year such as previous essays and projects, but the important thing is to diversify what you share to maximize your ePortfolio's effectiveness. Therefore you will need to complete other writing assignments during this important unit. When you see an opportunity to choose within a category, think well before you make your selection(s) as you will be locked in to that decision for a grade. The page numbers in (parenthesis) refer to your textbook so you may preview assignments for consideration before selection.

  • Category A: Academic/Technical
    • Resume (completed after break)
    • Cover Letter (actual job)
  • Category B: Informative (select two one)
    • Personal Essay (151)
    • Comparison-Contrast Essay (284)
    • Step-by-Step Documentation (553)
  • Category C: Imaginative
    • Scripting Play Scene (completed)
      • Meet with your group.
      • Revise as a group.
      • Alert Mr. Janes when you are finished so he can copy the script to your ePortfolio folder.
        • Take a hard look at it, remembering YOU will be responsible for its revision.
      • Save revised document to ePortfolio folder in PDF format as artifact3.
      • Complete a Reflection.
  • Category D: Persuasive
    • Persuasive Essay (completed)
      • Return to and revise your Theme Analysis Essay
      • (Save revised document to ePortfolio folder in PDF format as artifact4, being sure to follow up with a completed Reflection as well.)
  • Category E: Narrative
    • Journey Chronicle (861) (Due 12/20)

You can use any pre-approved outside artifact to bump one of the selections from Categories B but at the end of the Artifact section of the unit you will have completed and revised per above in addition to revising and adding previous work from this semester.

Your first homework assignment will be these selections. Read, review, research if needed and decide, always remembering you will be locked in. In the event you want to bump a writing assignment for one you want or need to complete, that too needs to be decided and approved in advance.
