Production Class In lieu of a written, final exam, and considering that what we do for projects comprises the bulk of our grade, we will create an individual Christmas or Winter Holiday-themed project. You have had a semester and plenty of opportunities to learn how to film and edit using Premiere. Now you will show your stuff. 1. Storyboard your project If your final film does not accurately reflect the storyboards, and you did not consult with Mr. Janes regarding the change(s) beforehand, deduct 25% of the overall grade. This prevents anyone from cramming the last minute. Use your time wisely. 2. Film, edit and master to WMV Be sure it is saved to your In Production network folder for viewing on the Mimio. Any errors minus 25% If it cannot be found as youre now being directed, you will receive a zero. 3. Minimum scenes 15 ( 25% for errors) 4. Minimum length of video 10 minutes Maximum 20 ( 25% for errors) Ideas: A New Ending: Write a new ending or a scene to follow the last scene ofa classic Christmas/Winter Seasonal story, novel or event. Act it out until you feel they have it right THEN film. One student can record the acted out version as a script. Storyboard the script.
Portrait: A video portrait of a person you think is a good example of thespirit of the season. The subject can be a family member, a community member, a peer. Show the subject's everyday activities as well as interviews. What other elements in that subject's life might tell us more about the person, as he/she is the embodiment of Christmas/Winter, etc.?
Adapt a Scene or Story: Similar to writing a new ending, Students dotheir version of a scene from an existing book, story or movie about Christmas, the season, etc. Do you have other ideas? Pre-approve them through Mr. Janes before you begin (I will accept no excuses otherwise). Since this is a Semester Exam, I expect you to draw on the work we have done this year to accomplish all tasks. Do not consult with each other I cannot control what you do outside the classroom but when we do meet you will not be allowed to discuss it (or anything else) with another classmate or Mr. Janes (outside of topic/storyboard approvals). The final product will be completely shot, edited, mastered and ready to view by 1:55 p.m., December 16 (your scheduled final exam). At that time you will have an electronic copy of your storyboard as well.
As we have only four video cameras, you will need to arrange times you will use a camera. I will not accept any excuses otherwise. |
