Elders' Wisdom

Hip Hop Request

Current Tasks

  • Upload new video
  • Edit/export new, raw movie (only the most recent footage)
    • Save this project file for later*
  • Defend/discuss
  • Using all raw footage, decide what you will keep and what will end up "...on the cutting room floor."
    • Storyboarding this is optional (at this point) but would be helpful with this task
  • Using ALL footage (first and second round), edit together a rough draft of FOOTAGE alone (no photos, narrative, soundtrack, etc.) and export another, raw movie.
    • *Here is where the previous project file might come in handy
  • Using that movie, transcribe all questions, answers, conversations.
    • You may use your Questions Documents to assist but your job is to write down everything asked, replied and stated as Mrs. Varvel needs everything possible to write the song lyrics.
    • Two, separate Word documents - Due uploaded to the Moodle forum, Thursday, 2/16, 4:15 p.m.
  • Screen and critique last year's video
  • Using that critique and your raw video from this year, storyboard the 2012 Video
    • The end result will be two, separate videos, each containing all assets for each honoree.
    • Mr. Janes will show you how to split the previous project file into the two you will need
    • Now you need to consider photos, narrative, soundtrack, text layovers, transitions, titles, credits, etc.
      • Absolutely everything on the final draft will reflect your story board. If not, you did not meet expectations.
  • Edit
    • Storyboard due and editing needs to begin by 4:15 p.m., Thursday, 2/23
  • Export
    • First draft due, exported as a movie, end of day, Wednesday, March 7
      • ALL ASSETS are to be included in this draft including narrations, scans, titles, credits and transitions. Develop as a final draft.
  • Critique
    • First critique will be Thursday, March 8
    • Any cons? Revise, export, critique.
  • Just as the shampoo bottle suggests, Repeat As Necessary.
  • Mrs. Janes alone will determine when the project is complete but your final deadline is Wednesday, March 14, so plan and work wisely as no extensions will be granted for this, your nine-week assessment grade.
    • Do you plan to add more footage or other assets? Fine. Schedule it. Do it. Add it. But the deadline will remain.
    • Upon critique of the final draft, you will assess each member of your team and the overall project.
    • If you are not sharing the work load, you will not share others' grade.
