The Body

It won't be long now! Remember that for effective development, unity and coherence are vital.

Format

  • MLA Formatting and Style Guide

    • Follow these rules EXACTLY

    • Double-spacing entire documents with Word 2007

    • Default Margins in Word 2007 are already 1x1x1x1 - See Mr. Janes if yours is not.

    • Mr. Janes' specifics:

      • Do not make a title page for your paper - follow the header format

      • Paginate - Your numbers need to appear at the right side of the page

      • Do not paginate the first page (I already know it's the first)

        • Inserting a Header in Word 2007 (choose a Blank Header, the first choice)

        • Adding Pagination to the Header (Page Number > Top of Page > Plain Number 1)

          • Adjust paragraph alignment inside the header to position the number where you want it

          • By default the header content should be 1/2" from top, as MLA requires.  - See Mr. Janes if yours is not.

        • Updating for a special Header

Writing the Body

  • *** Writing the body *** A review of the paragraph form
Focus on Unity and Coherence. Remember that Mr. Janes expects that 80% of this paper be written in your own words. If your paragraphs are mostly quotes, summaries and paraphrasing of others' words, you will lose significant credit (review rubric).

  • Still having trouble? Write a mini-outline just for each paragraph.
