ePortfolio
Mr. Janes' example ePortfolio: http://mrjanes.wordpress.com/eportfolio-of-mr-janes/
You
are about to create a document that likely will be very important to you now
as well as in the future, your own ePortfolio. An ePortfolio is like a website; it has multiple pages and documents (artifacts)
all connected and linked from a central page.
- Your central page, as well as others you might create, will be a
blog. The blog we're going to use is WordPress, a free, web-based
solution. The central page will be a resume format showcasing:
- A brief summary of who you are
- Work history
- Academic history
- Artifacts
- Those you will upload will be your choice, but
there will be a rubric of expectations.
- You will be able to upload any or all of the
electronic documents we've created this year such
as:
- Multimedia, Video Clip, Five-paragraph essay, Poetry,
Fiction
- Additional Documents
- Ideally, a good ePort contains much more
than only work you created in English class,
so some of your other teachers might have
suggestions for artifacts.
- Do YOU have any ideas?
- Remember that we want to show your
diversity, which will make you a better
candidate for whichever direction you
choose in life.
- We will also explore some others in class,
but after you graduate, you can add or link
to anything you want to showcase.
- Once you're done, the ePort goes with you.
- You can share the URL (link) with:
- College recruiters
- Prospective employers
- Anyone you choose
- You can continue updating your ePort.
- Change the resume page or any others
- Add more artifacts
- All you will ever need is an Internet connection and any
browser
- No software
- Mac, PC or Linux platforms... it doesn't matter anymore
- YOU are in more control of your future, using Web 2.0 (free, web-based
tools) which happens to communicate to potential employers and schools
just how 21st century your thinking is.
- This is an excellent example of what "lifelong learning"
really is supposed to be.
