    • Now open this file in Photoshop (for best results, save to your computer first)
      • How do we do THAT?
    • Read this article now and remember to refer back to it later if you need a refresher.
      • We are not using Photoshop Elements but the information applies to standard Photoshop
      • In this case, the following paths were applied:
        • Select Adjust Lighting from the Enhance menu and manually adjust Brightness/Contrast by dragging the bar up to lighten the image and make it more dreamlike.
        • Select Adjust Color and manually adjust Hue/Saturation by dragging the bar up to limit the color palette and create an unexpected effect.
        • From the Filter menu, select Distort > Liquify.
        • Select the Warp tool and drag parts of the photo until the landscape seems to be sliding or melting.
        • Experiment with other tools from the Liquify toolbox to continue to represent the surrealistic style.
        • Observe your peers' work. Is your different? There are countless ways to make it different - please do so!
    • Name the file: surreal1

  3. Create your own Surreal Version of an existing image from the Internet (public domain and fair-use only - use your resources!)
    • Select a fair-use image from the Internet to turn into a surrealistic piece of art.
    • Once you have selected your image, create a Digital Surrealism masterpiece.
    • Which filters can you use to achieve your goal? Sample them all!
    • IMPORTANT: As you experiment with your images, take notes on each tool used, describe how you used the tool(s), and explain how the tool(s) helped you to achieve a particular surrealistic style. DO NOT DISREGARD THIS as you will be held responsible for explaining your procedures when you share with the class.
    • Save your work as a PDF in your Desktop Publishing folder.
      • Name the file: surreal2

  4. Do the exact same task as #3 but this time with a photograph you took with the school camera.
    • Take notes as before and be prepared to share your work and technique.
    • Name the file: surreal3
